Using a K-Stage modular scaffold system, our team installed multiple platform levels with integrated hop-ups, roof rails, and ladder access points. Situation

The Hawthorn East project involved a large residential build with multiple elevations, recessed sections, and varying roof heights. As construction progressed into roofing and external finishing stages, the builder required a complete scaffold solution that would provide consistent and safe access across all façades.

The scaffold also needed to support painting and finishing trades, requiring stable platforms, extended reach through hop-ups, and reliable fall protection at roof level. With power lines present near the site boundary, additional care was required in scaffold placement and design.

Solution

Alltrade Scaffolding designed a fully integrated K-Stage scaffold system tailored to the building’s layout and construction sequence.

Key features of the solution included:

• 1 to 4 working platform levels depending on elevation requirements
• Platform widths of 700mm and 1.2m to suit different work zones
• Top 1m down roof rail systems with 4-pin configuration for compliant edge protection
• 1 and 2-board hop-ups to extend reach for façade and painting works
• Configured 3 + 2m in / 3 + 3 + 2m out bay arrangements for safe access and movement
• 2.4m x 0.7m ladder access points positioned strategically across the scaffold
• Scaffold sections installed on roof areas using lap boards under swivel jacks where required
• Careful positioning and compliance measures implemented near the adjacent power line
